The annual week-long celebration is taking place until Friday (4-8 March) with this year’s theme ‘Blaze a Trail’.
West Sussex County Council is blazing its own trail with over 100 employees currently studying for an apprenticeship, and more than half are over the age of 35.
Across the county there are a range of events being hosted by West Sussex County Council.
There’s the opportunity to find out more about apprenticeships and have your questions answered by attending one of our upcoming Apprenticeship and Traineeship Fairs:
Saturday 9 March 2019 at the Drill Hall, Denne Road, Horsham, RH12 1JF, 10am-2pm.
Thursday 14 March 2019 at Harlands Road College Site, Harlands Road, Haywards Heath, RH16 1LT, 4pm-7pm.
In May, West Sussex County Council will be celebrating the achievements of apprentices across the county at its fourth West Sussex Apprentice Graduation Ceremony.
The ceremony will take place at The Hawth Theatre, Crawley on Monday 20 May 2019 at 3pm.
Apprentices can attend the graduation if:
• You completed your Advanced or Higher/Degree Apprenticeship during 2018 (1 January 2018 to 31 December 2018)
• The employer, where you completed your Apprenticeship, is located in West Sussex
Richard Burrett, West Sussex County Council Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, said:
“Apprenticeships are a great way for people to earn a wage, gain relevant job-specific skills and get a qualification at the end.
“We are always celebrating apprenticeships in West Sussex, we run regular information sessions, have an annual graduation and host a range of vacancies on our website.
“Anyone who is interested in apprenticeships, regardless of age or background, should take a look at the information we have online.”
If you are interested in undertaking an apprenticeship you just need to:
• Be over the age of 16 (there is no upper age limit)
• Live in England
• Have completed compulsory full-time education
• Choose an apprenticeship (in a different field if you have already studied to degree level)
