A man who sold fake Disney products online has been sentenced following an investigation by West Sussex Trading Standards.
Andrejs Ozolins (Limbrick Lane, Goring-By-Sea, Worthing, West Sussex) pleaded guilty at Worthing Magistrates Court on Friday 1 March and was ordered to pay £1,250 in costs as well as a victim surcharge of £85.
He was also handed a 12 month community order, involving 150 hours of unpaid work.
Trading Standards became aware of Ozolins when they received a complaint in February 2017 that a West Sussex-based Amazon trader was selling counterfeit Walt Disney clothing and accessories.
Further checks revealed the same trader was selling large quantities of branded goods on eBay. These included Nintendo, Hello Kitty, SpongeBob and Angry Birds children’s products.
Test purchases by Trading Standards officers confirmed the goods were counterfeit.
They searched Ozolin’s address and found a conservatory filled with £52,000 worth of fake products.
